A great example of one these adventures is a trip we have now run a few times with differet clients. It began in the morning with transporting the group from the Island Pond, Vt area to Pittsburg, NH, about a 45 min drive. We had two vehicles, a trailer filled with boats and a group of very excited clients. Our group ranged in age from twenty-two years old to seventy-three. We arrived at the Canadian border crossing and parked for the hour long hike up along the border and into the 4th Connecticut Lake which forms the headwaters of the Connecticut River. Highlights of the hike were great views and foliage, several photo opportunities right on the border markers and of course, rising brook trout and a beaver lodge.

After the hike out we traveled down to the 1st Connecticut Lake and had a beautiful picnic lunch overlooking an island and a few roaming loons. It certainly seemed a good spot to see a moose but it was't to be on this trip. When lunch was through we launched the clients in the ready and waiting canoes and kayaks. We circumnavigated the lake, taking in the beauty and talking about the history of northern New Hampshire and Vermont, detailing the Native American influences and speaking to the history of Roger's Rangers and the logging industry.
After loading the boats and making a quick stop for northern micro-brews we were able to return our tired but thrilled clients just in time for their cookout at their lodging.
